Who we are

My name is Holley Muraco, a PhD marine mammal scientist, who began raising orphaned wildlife in 2020. I am a licensed and permitted wildlife rehabilitator for the state of Mississippi. We run a nonprofit called Something Wild. My family and I specialize in raising orphaned baby beavers. Beavers are one of the most time consuming and difficult animals to raise in wildlife rehab due to specialized diets, habitat needs and the 2 years they need to stay in care before release. Because beavers are considered a nuisance species in Mississippi and can be killed anytime, finding a safe watershed for release can be problematic. We are raising awareness for this misunderstood species with a goal of humans and beavers co-existing.
