Who we are

My name is Holley Muraco, a PhD marine mammal scientist, who began raising orphaned wildlife in 2020. My family and I work under the wildlife rehabilitation permit of Woodside Wildlife Rescue in Pass Christian, Mississippi. We specialize in raising orphaned baby beavers. Beavers are one of the most time consuming and difficult animals to raise in wildlife rehab due to specialized diets, habitat needs and the 2 years they need to stay in care before release. Because beavers are considered a nuisance species in Mississippi and can be killed anytime, finding a safe watershed for release can be problematic. We are raising awareness for this misunderstood species with a goal of humans and beavers co-existing.
